There probably aren't too many people who find this quite as funny as I do, but once again, the the people who read this journal are a rather odd bunch.
jnala writes in terrencechan's journal:
I've never played live triple draw outsider of ARG events.
I had a nightmare about it, actually. I'd satellited into the $50K HORSE, but showed up a couple hours late, just in time for the triple draw round which had been added at the last minute. Instead of shuffling and dealing standard cards, the dealer gave each player a wooden box containing steamed buns over cabbage, the underside of the buns displaying the card value. I managed to use the provided spatula to peek at my bun-cards, but fumbled while preparing my discards - one of them broke open and my hand was declared dead. Then I woke up.
I'm reasonably sure this is not, in fact, a procedure commonly in use in live triple draw games. |

:)
jas played the tdl event yesterday, and we both played the one at binions. it's my favorite game, although it's a little trying at limit. =D
No one plays TDL no-limit, do they?
We used to play TDL in our home game, but we haven't in a while. Next time I draw the dealer button, I'm calling it.
I don't think anyone really plays it no limit, but definitely pot limit.
No kidding. I was unaware of that. So you mean like in actual card rooms?
Oh, I don't know actually. The only times I've played it in card rooms it's been limit. I think it's mostly limit, but home game action is a lot of pot limit. Have you played it with a badugi split? That's a fun pot limit game.
all the way back from when we called it 'padooki' cause we didn't know the official name for it =)
I first learned about Chinese Poker from my brother's friends who called it Russian Poker.
In Soviet Russia, cards draw you.
1st orbit in the tourney I lost my 76 to a wheel. Bah!
Yeah, but was it a good 76? :-)
it's okay, later i drew a 76 against a guy's 8 so i'm even for 76s. i can't remember if it was a 765 or 764 but at that point it shouldn't matter!
Depends on the action, but for the first hand of the tournament, I'd certainly think it's more likely that the other guy is overplaying his hand!
Not first hand, but first orbit. I raised and raised but he drew his card.
Eh, whatcha gonna do. It was incredibly fun to play the game tournament style, which I've never done. | |
